“Sometimes it’s a recent past, and quite local, as in Dirk Ahlgrim’s “Snow Farm 1.” Taken earlier this year, it brings back memories of last winter’s onslaught. The picture is rather overwhelmingly large, 40 inches by 73 inches (try melting that), but the way Ahlgrim uses the yellow of snow-removal equipment, the white of snow, and the gray of general winter-ness is arresting in the extreme. Most of the photographs are color, which, as with Ahlgrim, is often used to excellent effect.”

Pulitzer prize winner Mark Feeney – Boston Globe

“One of the more popular photos was Dirk Ahlgrim’s “Snow Farm.” Although few Bostonians will ever forget the mountains of snow during last winter’s historic season, the image is an amazing, if not amusing, memento for future generations.”

Mary McCleary – New Boston Post

“This is balanced on the gallery’s opposite wall by Dirk Ahlgrim’s equally colossal photograph of the winter that left us reeling, with five construction vehicles rendered toy-like as they work the mountain of “Snow Farm 1”. It is its own brand of awesome.”
