Around 2007 Target contacted IDEO to help them innovate in the home storage space. Design research indicated that people were looking for more modular options that could easily be reconfigured. A system you buy at younger age for your living room may over time move to the home office, kids room, etc until it may end up being used as garage storage. IDEO developed a very flexible cube system, storage bins and trays, including a large set of accessories, for all these different scenarios. The entire system was launched in 2008 under the name ITSO. It stayed in Target stores for many years. To my surprise I discovered that Home Depot is now selling the system under the name B+IN.
